Brakes

How the discs and brackets are cut, what the certified tests measured, and the five ways a modern rear axle can be upgraded without losing its parking brake.

Three stages between the vehicle and the finished brake discFirst the actual hub, upright and wheel are 3D scanned, so the geometry used is the part as it left the factory rather than a drawing. Second the bracket and disc are designed against that scan and exercised digitally through suspension travel, steering lock and wheel clearance. Third the parts are cut on five-axis machines in a single setup, so no error accumulates between operations.
